MEET THE DOCTORS

 

AMI MALOCO, DVM 
PRESIDENT, VETERINARIAN

 

Dr. Amalia Maloco earned her education from Kansas University and Central Luzon State University. She had experience working as a critical care and regular veterinary technician for 8 years before becoming a veterinarian. Her areas of expertise include preventive medicine for small animal, dentistry, routine surgeries, and soft tissue surgeries. Her areas of interest include internal medicine and emergency care. Exceptional veterinary care is incredibly important to Dr. Maloco. She is committed to exemplifying professionalism in caring for clients’ pet’s needs by providing incredible patients care and customer service. Communication and interaction play a pivotal role in her interactions with her clients. Dr. Maloco and her husband Ruel have two children, Peter and Noell. They also have a variety of their own furry friends including: Annabeth, a Yorkie; Emma, a Chihuahua; and Muning, a cat. When Ami isn’t working, she enjoys traveling, shopping, collecting seashells, and most of all, spending time with her family.

 

 

DR. PAUL ZIMBER, DVM

Dr. Zimber a Rochester native attended Syracuse University and received his DVM degree from Cornell University. He practiced in New York City and Rochester and was the Seneca Park Zoo veterinarian In 1978 he opened Midtown Veterinary Hospital where he continues to practice.

JOANNA BENDER, DVM

Dr. Joanna Bender graduated from Purdue University in 1988, earning her degree Veterinary Medicine. She went on to complete a small internship at Cornell University and has been practicing in the Western NY area ever since. Dr. Bender's professional interests include dermatology and internal medicine, specifically, urology, endocrinology, and feline medicine. She strives to provide the best quality of patient care available, providing exceptional client education. She would resent all options available to treat patients at times of illness and preventative health care to help us avoid diseases & extend our pets' lives. When she has free time, Dr. Bender enjoys spending time with family, close friends & her pets; Sir Arthur the Shih-Tzu and several rescue cats. She also takes an interest in hiking and backpacking, especially in remote areas and downhill skiing. Dr. Bender is happy to serve the Rochester community alongside the team at Midtown Veterinary Hospital.

 


MEET THE SUPPORT STAFF

 

RUEL MALOCO 
VP & GENERAL MANAGER

 

Ruel has extensive experience in business development and relationship building with excellent customer service philosophy. He earned his MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, NY and Business Administration degree from Albright College, in Reading, PA, as well as a computer programming degree from The Chubb Institute in Jersey City, NJ.Ruel served with the PA National Guard for 9 years. He received several merits and an award for serving and being deployed in Iraq in 2008-2009. Together Ruel and his wife Ami have two children, Peter and Noell, as well as a number of pets! Their pets include Annabeth, a Yorkie; Emma, a Chihuahua; and Muning, a cat.

 

 

KAYLI WESTERVELT
CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE/ VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Kayli has been a Veterinary Technician for a little over two years now. She graduated with a degree in Humanities and Social Sciences before starting her education at Alfred State College to receive a BS in Veterinary Technology. She was involved and played three years of collegiate volleyball. Originally from Watkins Glen and moved to Rochester in 2018. Kayli has two amazing dogs, Tod and Stormy and a new cat Eevee. In her free time she likes to hike, golf, and spend quality time with the pups.

 

 

KRISTINA MARTIN 
CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE/ VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Kristina received her Veterinary Science Technology degree from Suffolk County Community College in May 2013.  She continues to work on getting licensed in veterinary technology.  Kristina has been working in the veterinary industry for over seven years.  She recently joined the MVH team in October 2018 and has various responsibilities including being one of our customer care specialists and assisting her vet tech colleagues. 

Kristina has always had passion and a love for animals since she was young, starting with her first cat Cindy.  She currently has two fur babies at home, a Boston Terrier named Hailey and a gray cat named Kohl.  When she has some free time, which is not much, she enjoys and loves to sing, dance, read, explore the outdoors, and sometimes model.

PETER MALOCO
VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Peter studies abroad in the Philippines for Veterinary Science and Medicine. He lives with his Philippine native dogs (Askals) named Jepoy and Dipper, who he took in and adopted after finding them in awful conditions from the streets. Jepoy now enjoys walking Peter down the block every morning before he leaves for school. During semester breaks, Peter comes back home to NY and works at Dansville Animal Hospital and Midtown Veterinary Hospital. Outside of work and school, Peter likes to go fishing, hiking, and hanging out with friends.

NOELL MALOCO 
CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE

Noell is currently going to school for Business Administration. Although only being in the field for two years, he is learning all aspects of the practice in the hope of taking over as a Practice Manager eventually. Originally from Queens, NY, he has moved around the tri-state area until finally settling down in Geneseo. Noell loves animals (mostly dogs), especially Frenchies and Pit Bulls. Apart from work, his hobbies include basketball and making music.

SHANNON ACEVEDO
CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE

Shannon moved to Rochester 2 years ago after living in Brooklyn for most of her life. She completed her Veterinary Certificate Program at Penn Foster and is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Shannon has four years' experience as a lead customer care representative at a prior Veterinary Clinic, but a total of 6+ years in the animal industry. Shannon's passion for animals started at a young age due to her father owning a pet shop. She spent much of her time at the store, which encouraged her love of animals. Shannon has a four-year-old Siberian Husky, named Amethyst and two rescue cats, nine-year-old Whiskers, whom she saved from a basement at one month old and five years old, Scarlett, who she found at two days of age in a parking lot. In her spare time, Shannon likes to watch anime, read manga, spend time with her husband/family/friends, and her three fur-babies.

MEET THE TECHNICIANS

 

KERI COMSTOCK 
LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Keri Comstock went to school at Batavia GCC and graduated in May of 2018 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Kari passed her VTNE in August of 2018 and has worked as a Licensed Veterinary Technician ever since. Not only does Kari have a small animal experience, but she also has experience working with exotics. Kari's fur-babies/scaly friends include five rabbits, a ball python, a14-year-old Shiba Inu, named Jake, and a two-year-old rough collie, named Hisoka. Outside of work, Kari's hobbies include crochet, swimming, reading, and playing video games. Kari is excited to start her new adventure as part of the Midtown Veterinary Hospital team.

 

 

BRITTANY HANGE
LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Brittany has always loved being around animals and knew she wanted to work with them from a young age. Brittany started her career as a Veterinary Assistant for a mobile vaccine clinic in 2015. By May of 2018, Brittany had graduated with her associates in Veterinary Technology from GCC. In November of 2018 she passed her VTNE and received her license as a Veterinary Technician. Brittany joined the Midtown Veterinary team in December of 2019 and has enjoyed being a part of the MVH family. In June, Brittany proudly adopted her first dog, named Cosmo. Outside of work, her and Cosmo enjoy spending time with their family and friends and enjoy some quiet time to read.

 

MICHAEL McCABE
LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Michael attended SUNY Ulster and graduated with an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology in 2014. Since then, Michael has worked with large animals as well as dogs and cats since. Michael recently moved to this area and brought his Rottweiler, named Harvey and his cat, named Morty. He joined our DAH and MVH team as an LVT and also accepted the position of head assistant wrestling coach at Alfred State College. Outside of work, Mike enjoys staying active, cooking, and being outdoors.
